3 Main Things that you need to get a Website:
  1. A website name. This would be your web address. This is also known as a domain name. An example would be www.soulpittmedia.com . This is our website name. You must buy a name. You renew the name every year. An average price is $25 per year for the name. Soul Pitt Media can buy your name for you.

  3. A place to put your website. The internet is like a GIANT filing cabinet with thousands of drawers. These drawers are called hosts. A host does just that -- it hosts your website. Imagine that drawer pulled out and you open one of the many folders in that drawer. That is your tiny little space on this HUGE internet. And it is being hosted by that drawer. If you don't have a host, that won't put you on the internet. Soul Pitt Media is our own host. We can also host your site for you.

  5. A Web Design. Thirdly, of course you need the website designed. A website is a collection of pages designed to present information over the World Wide Web. This would be YOUR information. It should be presented in a pleasing, creating and user friendly fashion. We at Soul Pitt Media can design one for you.
Submitting Text and Graphics for your web site
  • All text and graphics provided for your web site should be submitted to us in electronic format. It is preferable that this information be sent to us via electronic mail to files@soulpittmedia.com , however, information can be put on a PC diskette and mailed to us at: The Soul Pitt, 6393 Penn Avenue #317, Pittsburgh PA 15206.

  • All text should be submitted in word processing format, preferably Microsoft Word or directly in your email, however, other word processing or text formats will work fine. If you do not have the information in electronic format, we will type the information for you for a fee of $5.00 per 100 words typed.

  • All graphics should be submitted in recognized PC format (GIF, JPG, BMP, TIF, etc.). If you do not have them in this format, we will gladly scan them in for you and made web ready(provided they are in good condition) for $8.00 per scan.
Timeframe for designing & launching your web site
  • There are many factors that go into determining how long it will take to design and launch your web site ... complexity, size, amount of graphic work and backlog. Starter sites can be launched as quickly as 7-10 days. More complex Premium and Deluxe sites can take from 2 to 6 weeks.
  • We will work hard to meet your timeframe for getting your site launched or getting web pages implemented.
Understanding Web Space and Web Traffic
  • Web Space refers to the amount of storage that is taken up by your web site. This includes all the web pages, graphics and files you have stored on our web server.

  • Web Traffic refers to the amount of information that is transmitted to the user when they visit your web pages. Each web page varies depending on amount of text and graphics displayed. If, for instance, a web page is 40K in size and that page is visited 200 times each month, you would use 8MB of web traffic (40K x 200). If you have a 7 page web site and each page is visited 200 times (assuming page size is 40K), you would use about 56MB of web traffic.
